The 100 Ideas Initiative grew out of a simple concept: invite every citizen and community in Oklahoma to take part in a revolution of ideas, to contribute creative solutions to the challenges we face, and to lay the foundations for prosperity in our state for the next 100 years.

Celebrated in songs and stories, Oklahoma is a place of new beginnings and unlimited opportunities. In 100 years, Oklahoma has delivered on the dreams of our pioneer and Native American forebears. Our optimism about the future comes from the pride we take in our pioneer past.

Now, as Oklahoma embarks on its second century, we need new pioneers and visionaries to take us to a future of unlimited possibility. Oklahoma's second century begins not with another land rush, but with a rush to new ideas and new solutions.

In 2007, the 100 Ideas Initiative held more than 60 "IdeaRaisers" across the state. Citizens from all walks of life contributed ideas. A website at 100ideasok.org also accepted hundreds of submissions. By the end of 2007, the 100 Ideas Initiative had gathered more than 3,400 ideas.

Now the best of those ideas have been collected and published in this book. The people of Oklahoma -- working together -- wrote this book.

100 Ideas. A great starting point for a bright future.
